Self-Assembly Project

Our azbiChair should become self-assemblable.

The horizontal beams should become snap-on, and the ring should become interlaced parts rather than two half-rings. In the mean time, the screws should be reduced as much as possible.

In the pictures above you see:

  • a  horizontal beam: a plywood beam 75 x 24 mm.
  • a segment of the ring: consisting of two connected plywood segments, each 75mm x 18mm.
  • a model in scale 1:4 for overview.

Last year we visited SICAM in Pordenone, Italy, and got to know about very promising fittings.

  1. The horizontal beams could be connected with snap-on connectors like nigiri or sashimi
  2. The ring segments might be connected with diva or donna snap-fittings.

The question is: which ones of these fittings would solve our problem? Our production is in Estonia, and we found out that Mööblifurnituur is the local provider, and their specialist is very helpful in finding the right solution for us.

What do you suggest, which are the best choice, and how do we proceed? May I call you to discuss details, or could you even help us in testing them?

Please contact us if you can provide any help.
